Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia. We rely on thousands of volunteers every year to help us build a better community in Northern Virginia!
Community Build days are typically the last Saturday of every month. Spots are limited.
Construction volunteers help us improve homes through our Home Repair Program, and help us build new homes, like our current build on Douglass Avenue in Falls Church. Learn more about construction volunteering.
Volunteer opportunities are plentiful, Monday-Saturday in Chantilly and Alexandria.
Do you have a little time to give, or care to make an ongoing commitment? Volunteering at our ReStores helps us in so many ways! Our ReStores accept donations of home improvement materials, furniture and supplies, as well as sell items to the public. Our volunteers organize, price and work with customers to make our stores a success. All proceeds from the ReStore support our programs. Learn more about volunteering at the ReStore.
SPECIAL EVENT AMBASSADORS
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia often hosts or attends special events to promote our affiliate. We are always in need of volunteers to attend these events as representatives of HfHNV. Volunteers are needed on a somewhat regular basis for this opportunity and will be provided with a calendar of events in advance. Learn more about our Ambassador volunteers.
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia has several different committees that oversee and are in charge of many facets of our organization. We are always looking for volunteers to join our committees based on their talents and personal interests. Typically, serving on a committee requires availability to attend once monthly committee meetings (1-2 hours) and possibly a few extra hours a month on your own time. Please visit our Committees page for more information.
Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities. Women Build provides an environment that encourages women to learn new skills, use new tools and work together as empowered and capable workers. Women Build is not about excluding men—it is about including women. Learn more about our Women Build program.
Young people ages 5 to 25 are welcome to participate in our youth programs. Although youth must be 16 or older to volunteer on the construction site, there are many opportunities for you to get involved with Habitat. Your excitement and creativity is exactly what Habitat for Humanity needs to involve more people, build more houses, raise more money and welcome more families into our community! Please visit our Youth page for more information about our current youth volunteer opportunities.
