What We Do
For information about the Sandlot Gang join us on site and see if you too get "bitten by the bug" of building homes with partner families and other volunteers.
Sandlot University is the Habitat Northern Virginia training program covering the entire construction process and volunteer workforce management. Its objective is to provide the construction management and supervisory skills necessary to become a House Leader. House Leaders are committed volunteers whose primary duties are leading and training the volunteer workforce. As the Construction Director's on-site supervisors, House Leaders assign tasks and oversee all volunteer construction done in the houses from foundation to move-in. Habitat generally assigns a team of House Leaders to each house to assure schedule flexibility and continuity of supervision throughout the construction process.
