Four Star Charity
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (Habitat NOVA) is proud to be recognized as a four-star charity by Charity Navigator, America’s premier independent charity evaluator. Charity Navigator works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America’s largest charities. Habitat NOVA’s Charity Navigator rating of Exceptional means our nonprofit organization exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in our cause.
“Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of our 4-star rating. Based on this rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support Habitat NOVA.”
For more than 28 years, Habitat NOVA has helped local families invest in their children’s future through affordable homeownership. We are your locally owned and operated, and locally funded Habitat for Humanity affiliate. All donations to Habitat NOVA stay right here in Northern Virginia, assisting local families to build and buy their own safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. As an independent affiliate, we receive no direct monies from Habitat for Humanity International.
Together, we can strengthen local families as well as our hometown communities.
About Charity Navigator
Charity Navigator rates charities by evaluating two broad areas of financial health -organizational efficiency and organizational capacity. Using a set of financial ratios or performance categories to rate each of these two areas, Charity Navigator issues an overall rating that combines the charity’s performance in both areas. Charity Navigator ratings show givers how efficiently they believe a charity will use its support today, and to what extent the charity is growing its programs and services over time.
