** Habitat NOVA will be temporarily closing our three ReStores (Alexandria, Chantilly, and Herndon) to the public for shopping until April 15th. We will reassess the situation at that time and will provide updates on our website and social media channels. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you again when we open!
Habitat NOVA is no longer accepting donations at our ReStores and will not be doing any curbside pickups. We appreciate you thinking about Habitat NOVA and we look forward to accepting your donation when we re-open!**
Donate goods to Habitat NOVA’s ReStores to clear clutter and make a difference in our community. Your donation is tax deductible. Proceeds raised by our ReStores benefit the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia to bring people together to build strong and stable homes and communities.
How Does Your Donation Help?
Our ReStores sell items donated from businesses and individuals in our community. Proceeds from the sales go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia and help us ensure strong and stable families and communities. In addition, by repurposing furniture, appliances, and building materials our ReStores actively help reduce area landfill waste each year. That benefits us all!
What Can You Donate?
We accept new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials, household goods and more from individuals and companies. Our ReStores are unique and we only accept what we can sell. There are certain items (e.g. clothing, mattresses, and bedding, stained or torn upholstered furniture, etc.) that we cannot accept due to state and local health regulations. Please refer to the graphic on the right for information on what we can and cannot accept.
We only accept what we can sell! We do not repair broken items, so please do not donate items that are broken or do not work!
Please understand that our dumpsters represent a significant cost, and are for Habitat NOVA’s ReStore use only. Regretfully, we cannot accommodate requests to throw away items that we are unable to accept as donations.
How Do You Donate?
Our Habitat NOVA ReStore staff and volunteers make the donation process as simple as possible. You can always donate goods in person. All our Northern Virginia Habitat ReStores also offer free pick-up of large items.
Note that donation hours differ from store hours! Please do not leave your donated items after hours!
Drop Off / In Person: When dropping off a donation, please pull up to the loading dock at the rear of the building. We have staff and volunteers available to help you unload.

Pick Up Service
We provide limited, FREE pick-up service for large donations in the Northern Virginia area. We schedule donation pickups Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items for pick up must be placed curbside, in a driveway, or garage. For business pick-ups, please contact our ReStores to coordinate.
Due to limitations of both staff and volunteers, we cannot accept a request to schedule a pickup with less than 48 hours notice, and we are unable to guarantee a specific pick-up time.
To schedule a pick-up, please click the button below and fill out our online request form.
If you have questions about your donation or scheduled pickup, please do not call the Habitat for Humanity business office. Those are the folks busy building houses and helping families! Please contact the Alexandria or Chantilly ReStore directly.
Your donation is tax deductible. Once your donation has been received, you will receive an email with a receipt of your donation which may be used for tax purposes.
