Partnering for Affordability
In January Fairfax Presbyterian Church held an Open House to provide information to local residents about a unique partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia, HomeAid Northern Virginia, and Homestretch. The church is providing land in order for Habitat NOVA to construct affordable housing in our region. Each nonprofit will bring its strengths to the development which will result in 10 townhomes. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
Unique Opportunity to Provide Individuals with a Place to Call Home
On February 25th Arlington County authorized the County Manager to proceed with a letter of intent which will allow Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia to convert a vacant historic property Reeves Farmhouse, into a group home for developmentally disabled individuals. Habitat NOVA will partner with L’Arche Greater Washington, a nonprofit that serves people with disabilities, as a fundraising partner and provide residential support for four to five individuals and their caregivers.
Under the agreement between Habitat NOVA and Arlington County, the farmhouse will be converted by Habitat NOVA and operated and maintained by L’Arche. The two-acre parkland around the farmhouse will remain for public use.
We look forward to sharing more about these projects with you!
